Philip Nitschke\u2019s new “Destiny<\/strong>” euthanasia machine will be unveiled at the Australian premiere of his show \u2018Dicing with Dr Death<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 in Melbourne on 3 April.<\/p>\n

A modified and updated version of his hit from the 2015 Ed Fringe<\/strong>, the performance looks at the growth of DIY suicide methods, giving tips to the audience on the best (and funniest) ways to obtain the premier euthanasia drug Nembutal so that they can achieve a peaceful death whenever they like.<\/p>\n

The new Destiny euthanasia machine was used by controversial UK media personality, Katie Hopkins<\/a>,<\/strong> who went up to Edinburgh to demonstrate the machine.<\/p>\n

For epileptic Katie, pure nitrogen<\/strong><\/a> replaced the usual lethal gas used by the machine.<\/p>\n

Dr Nitschke said that there was now a search on for a prominent Australian who would be prepared to come up on stage at the Athenaeum Theatre<\/a><\/strong> and \u2018experience\u2019 the machine.<\/p>\n

Speaking from Switzerland, where the final parts to the April 3 show were being put in place, Dr Nitschke said,<\/p>\n

“New technologies are changing the face of the euthanasia issue. The Destiny machine doesn\u2019t require outside help. The machine provides a bio feed on the person\u2019s vital statistics.This alone can be hilarious as the person gets increasingly nervous the more buttons they press\u2019.<\/p>\n

An early version of the death machine called \u2018My Beautiful Chair\u2019 can be found at the MONA<\/a><\/strong> Museum in Hobart in the Sex and Death pavillion.\u00a0 The machine that was used by 4 patients to die in the Northern Territory 20 years ago in in the Wellcome Collection at the British Science Museum<\/strong><\/a> in London.<\/p>\n

In the Dicing with Dr Death<\/strong><\/a> show, the celebrity will be fed pure nitrogen by nasal prongs. How far they go on stage in the process will be up to them.<\/p>\n

Dr Nitschke said on opening night of the Edinburgh show, the Edinburgh Council<\/strong> ruled that nitrogen could not be used becuse it represented a \u2018danger to the public\u2019. The Scottish Police<\/strong> were also then involved.<\/p>\n

At this stage Dr Nitschke said there has been no contact from Victorian Police<\/strong><\/a> about the show.<\/p>\n
